Storage Richmond Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Richmond in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Richmond recognises that modern slavery is a grave violation of fundamental human rights and we are committed to conducting business in a way that respects the dignity, freedom, and well-being of all individuals.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Richmond operates storage facilities and related services, working with a range of suppliers that provide building maintenance, security, cleaning, equipment, technology solutions, and professional services. While our operations are primarily low risk in terms of direct exposure to modern slavery, we acknowledge that risks may exist within extended supply chains, particularly where goods or services are sourced from higher risk sectors or regions.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Storage Richmond maintains a clear and uncompromising zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, human trafficking, servitude, and deceptive or coercive recruitment practices. We expect the same commitment from every supplier, contractor, and business partner with whom we work. Our policy requires that workers are employed voluntarily, paid fairly and on time, and work in conditions that are safe, lawful, and respectful.
Our zero-tolerance stance is reflected in our internal policies, supplier standards, and the contractual terms we seek to put in place with our business partners. We reserve the right to review, suspend, or terminate relationships where credible concerns about modern slavery are identified and not promptly and effectively remedied.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are progressively embedding modern slavery expectations into our supplier management processes. Suppliers are required to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and to ensure that their own supply chains are free from modern slavery.
Where assessed as appropriate based on risk and value, we may conduct or request audits and assessments of key suppliers. These reviews may include questions on recruitment practices, worker documentation, use of labour agencies, working hours, wage practices, and health and safety conditions. Where potential issues are identified, we work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timelines for improvement, and we monitor progress to ensure that agreed measures are implemented.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Richmond encourages employees, contractors, and suppliers to raise any concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices without fear of retaliation. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management, or through existing internal reporting channels. Reports may be made confidentially, and we will treat all concerns seriously and sensitively.
All allegations or indications of modern slavery are investigated promptly and, where appropriate, may result in engagement with the supplier involved, corrective action plans, or the termination of business relationships. Where legally required or appropriate, we may also notify or cooperate with relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
We are working to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and facility operations. Staff are informed about the signs of modern slavery, the importance of ethical purchasing, and the procedures for escalating any concerns. Our aim is to ensure that decision-makers understand both the legal requirements and our ethical expectations.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management, who review the effectiveness of our policies and actions on a regular basis. We monitor developments in legislation, industry guidance, and best practice to improve our approach over time.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually and updated as necessary to reflect the evolution of our business, supply chains, and risk profile. As part of this annual review, we will consider feedback from stakeholders, results of any supplier assessments, and any reported concerns or incidents. We are committed to continual improvement and to strengthening our ability to identify and address modern slavery risks wherever they may arise within our operations or supply chains.
This statement has been approved by the management of Storage Richmond and represents our ongoing commitment to uphold human rights and combat modern slavery in all its forms.
